    in my opinion intuitive eating is good but only for people who are not severely overweight or underweight i have lost over 30kgs and after that i had a hard time eating normally and not restricting too much. Now i eat when i want and whatever and just try to make sure its overall balanced with some treats here and there

    Hey coach Greg! Just wanted to say I really appreciate these videos about diet, nutrition, training how to‘s etc. They’re much more useful to me than natty or not videos since I have no idea who most of the people are (although I still play them in the background when I’m cooking/cleaning). Even though these videos don’t get as many views I’m grateful you still do them to educate others. Thank you!!

    Cakes and pizzas - my kryptonite. Here's something about intuitive eating. I observe it every day and envy. My wife is intuitive eater. Put cake or pizza in front of her. She loves both but she just knows when to stop. I can't even imagine how it works. It's not like she stops herself from eating high calorie food while the craving is still there. It's her brain stopping her from overeating in the right moment. The craving is gone and she doesn't feel like she wants more. Large pizza? A single slice is enough. Cake? She rarely finishes a slice. She eats all the delicious foods, doesn't care about calories because her "factory settings" prevent overeating. On the other hand, put a pizza in front of me. I will eat everything and better it's not a buy-2-for-1 deal. It's just unstoppable craving in my brain and I need lots of will power to fight it. My wife is not the only intuitive eater I know. I know a few such people and I really envy. I think it only means that their bodies work properly. I'm on the other side of the spectrum - formerly-obese compulsive overeater. I can't eat without logging food into MFP (using it for a couple of years now). Intuitive eating exists but only a handful of people is capable of make it working.

    I find that I have to eat a ton of food to maintain my physique. I’m around 15 - 20 body fat but I eat like an animal. And I’d say I probably get 4000 to 5000 calories a day. When I don’t eat that much, I start to lose weight. So much so that the quarantine had a opposite affect on me. I was staying inside and eating slightly less than I would normally.     If I eat low calorie dense foods and only eat till I'm about 90% as full as I want to be it is extremely easy to lose weight.

    Down to 165 pounds again at 6 feet tall! Just thinking calories in and out, but without extensive jogging for 45 minutes this time!. I just take 1 hour walks to 1½ hours and keep meals small but satisfied. works super awesome and enjoying it this year. Thanks Greg for all support from your videos even if you dont know me but I wanted to tell you they mean alot to me and every weekends that comes up that yay Coach Greg friday, and im motivated for weekend too! :D I dont need to kill myself anymore to drop weight I can do it joyfully and like it and I can make it last now, well my body adapted and lasted last time but now I can do it in a more peacefull way, well I just know what I do now is working great and you help motivate me to take the long run and not dropping it all in 2 months and feel crap :)

    Intuitive eating works fine if you’re a caveman with nothing around but fruit and deer meat. Different story when we have multinational corporations chemically designing food to be addicting

    I totally agree with this. I mindfully eat and choose to make the right food choices to assist my performance in the gym, to feel less sluggish and more energetic and the physique just follows. If you eat the right foods. Eat good volume so your not hungry and craving junk or even if you do want to eat junk your so filled up you won't spiral out of control when you do have few handfuls cause you are so full already. Eat low calorie, nutrient dense foods your physique will follow and you can most of all maintain it.

    I struggle to lose weight but with the help of coach Greg I struggle to gain to much unwanted weight. Every once and a while I say fuck it and eat a shit ton or as much as I can and I dont gain to much but I eat only healthy and low calorie and its genuinely fun to me, and if I'm not injured I'll bike half of it off usually(also fun) but sooner or later I'll actually get serious and cut down burned of now I'm happy and 140-155

    To be honest , I own Coach Greg’s cookbook. I’ve only used a couple of the recipes to try. They were great, but I just use the cook book and a guide or idea book to help me create my own meals.

    Mindful eating is what helped me lose 25kg. If I had done keto or sth it would've probably gone faster (it's been two years so far), then again, restricting is nothing I can maintain. What's really amazing though, is the more I learned about nutrition and how I can substitute and make healthy and fresh food taste really good, the lesser I actually crave junk food. As you said, it's a process and it takes time, but this may be the only diet that can prevent you from bouncing right back to obesity.

    Been noticing that as a woman my hormones change. A week before our "hellweek" you get more hungry and according to some articles I read you can eat between 100 to 300 kcal more at this time. Don't know if this is true but I eat more at that week because I listen to my body and gain no weight. After that I eat normal again. So sorta intuitive eating :p

    @Gabriele Mazzoli “Obese” means you have a BMI greater than a certain number. Greg himself is technically Obese because of how much he weighs in relation to his height. He acknowledges the real definition in most videos and suggests you ignore the labels because obviously they are misleading. Also ally is def not 25%. Body fat looks a lot different on women

    Honestly I think most people can follow a healthy strict diet of food that’s a 6/10. The reason people fail is because they try to go 100 immediately. I use to eat whatever like the average person and failed many times to cut back on junk food. Now I’m at the point I can a whole month eating nothing but beans, rice, hemp seeds, etc if I really wanted. Excluding soy milk I haven’t drank anything but water in over a year surprisingly I don’t miss soda/juice. It’s literally impossible for me to go back to how I was I get sick of eating junk after I’ve had my fill after 1-2 weeks of being clean. I couldn’t imagine eating like shit 24/7 again. Aside from breaking addiction in of itself most people just don’t realize how good you feel sticking as close to a quality whole foods plant based diet as well as you can. Obviously you’ll feel better doing something like what Greg does vs how most people eat I’ve experienced each hierarchy there’s a clear difference that becomes the new addiction

    Yeah I was unaware at the time but I'm pretty sure intuitive eating got me up to 230+lbs in Highschool. There where too many times where I felt endlessly hungry.

    When I ate intuitively through about 2010, I was involved in a TON of cardio. I stayed lean. At age 37 with two kids, if I are like that now, I'd be a fucking house. So I eat mindfully. It was about a five year education process, but now I don't need to track and record nutrition any more.

    The term "mindful eating" is referring to a specific style of eating where you eat slowly and basically meditate on your food, and this gives your satiety signals time to reach your brain so you put the fork down sooner. I'm also fairly sure that "intuitive eating" originally referred to intuitively understanding what your body needed by paying attention to specific cravings and finding a healthy choice that satisfied that need so you wouldn't just eat garbage. All these terms get co-opted to mean whatever people want, though, so whatever.

    Hey Greg great video, just not a fan of the part where you talked about a shortcut and then advertised your cookbook. I agree that your cookbook is dope, I own it, I just don't like that kind of predatory advertising language that literally any supplement or diet company will do where they advertise themselves as the latest 'shortcut'.     hey man i just created a youtube channel, i have Greg's anabolic french toast recipe on my channel and also i'm uploading his protein ice cream recipe December 30th, 2020 at 1PM EST. If you want to gain weight stick with "high caloric dense foods". almost the opposite of his cookbook. See if you can bump your calories up 10% from maintenance from adding in peanut butter, avocados, eggs, and other foods that are easy to get your calories in. My advice is to be careful, no point in putting on too much weight and then having to go on a diet.
