    I'll hate on jeff. He's spent a fair amount of time trying to make himself right with this slack ass training style. I trained like that for years without even realizing it. It wasn't until i actually pushed to true failure that i even felt like i was accomplishing anything in the gym. I was working out for up to 2 hours on a chest/tri's day! All because i wasn't going to true failure. I'll never go back to training that way. Now i can hit an upper push in 45 minutes and be spent afterwards. That being said, there are obviously exercises that you just can't go to failure with safely. I'm not gonna get under a barbell for a set of squats to absolute failure. But back to the original point, jeff keeps going to these other tools that say it's necessary to eat an insane amount of calories in a day to gain muscle, and try to break shit down to "where you are in your meso-cycle." Too much science for something that is different for everyone, and by definition, not aplicable to everyone. I'm not taking their word for anything. Just go your ass to the gym and train and don't listen to people that overcomplicate basic principles.

    The advice „train harder than last time“ sounds good but is misleading longterm. Everyone will hit a ceiling. At that point one needs to take a step back, i.e. train less hard. It took me forever to finally get that and make progress continuously since i did. RPE is ideal to know when to dial back before hitting the ceiling.

    Jeff is ridiculous. Counting reps does not equate effort. You can literally do 10 reps for an entire year but HARDER THAN LAST TIME means increase the weight or slow the egress or a number of different ways to increase muscle growth. That’s why coach states it in such global terms. DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES IT HARDER THAN LAST TIME.

    As much as I love Jeff Nippard and those Science guys (because they put out great information) I think in this case they are taking this situation WAY TOO personally rather than trying to be objective about it. They are taking coah Gregs words out of context and misunderstading what he's saying (maybe they're doing it on purpose, or by accident, I don't know). But I'm glad coach Greg is standing up for himself, keep doing it. I also noticed how coach Greg is speaking in a normal tone of voice rather than shouting like he normally would do, I think he's done this on purpose so his message doesn't get lost in the chaos of screaming lol :) Love ya Dr. Greg!

    Let's just be honest about some things here: 1. All of guys calling a Jeff a simp or putting him down for defending his girlfriend are both childish and hypocrites. So you're saying if someone hurt your wife's feelings you wouldn't defend her? Get real man. 2. Greg and Jeff are both very great and knowledgeable people so this whole argument between training intensity is kinda dumb in my opinion 3. That being said, I do really like Greg but I feel he does have a habit of saying things that can come off as rude or disrespectful. I have a hard time Greg "doesn't remember" what he said I think its kind of an excuse to "save face" Greg and Jeff love you both but I think there is some actual personal stuff between you two that as men you need to talk and work it out with. I do gotta give Greg props that he put in his video his older statements and corrected some of his comments

    Personally think you've both got this wrong. Studies are done on specific groups of people. A Study done on intermediate trainees (Any good study tells the reader the standard of lifter it is tested upon) Shows a training protocol on intermediates. It can then Quantify information to suggest if the protocol is good for intermediates or not. Say if a 10x10 GVT study is done on intermediate athletes. "It is found that a significant amount of muscle growth can be attained in Intermediate lifters from an 8-week GVT Protocol" This is not suggesting that this would work for beginners or advanced lifters. It needs to be tweaked for both. beginners should probably drop the volume to nearer 5x10. For advanced trainees however I would advocate 5x10 then 5x5, This then increases mechanical tension within the muscle bellies with the same high intensity metabolic stress overload within the fibers. Similar case with RPE. beginners do not have to worry about RPE as long as they are moving weight around and increasing weight week on week (training harder than last time). Intermediate athletes are more likely to require a way to sense load and RPE is a good way. RPE 2 to 1 is key here. for Advanced trainees RPE is a key point. However, RPE 10 should be put in place regularly throughout a training cycle to stimulate growth. Even sets that go beyond RPE 10(failure) Like drop sets. Hope This hypothesis comes to both of you, and you can reply with your thoughts.

    The funny thing is, RPE is literally just a measurement. Everyone is RPE training whether they like it or not. If you don't know what RPE is and you went to the gym and hit any weight to failure, whether you wanted to or not, you managed to hit that weight at RPE 10. Depending on your goals, whether you're a powerlifter or looking for hypertrophy, that will determine what RPE you're aiming for throughout your weeks of training. Lifting RPE 10 consistently every day of the week when you're looking to build strength and powerlift can be very dangerous on your body when your RPE 10 is consistently during heavy 1 rep maxes, however the same can't be said about hypertrophy training as you can manage RPE 10 with lighter and safer weight that will compensate your joints a little more than 1 rep maxes would and still manage to achieve hypertrophy in the muscles the same as you would with heavy weight. Personally, I believe that focusing on RPE beyond what I say after this is stupid if you're hypertrophy training. In a lift of 4 sets of X number of reps, I think it's best to aim for RPE 7-9 (you don't even have to call it RPE, just aim for 2-3 reps less than failure) the first two sets of a movement and RPE 10 the last two sets, meaning you achieve failure in the last two sets. I don't powerlift, so I can't speak for strength training much, but I do believe that powerlifting is far more important for focusing on RPE as you need to gradually work up to lifting heavier and heavier before you deload at the end of your program and you need to preserve energy throughout your sets working up to your RPE 10 set or else you'll be fatigued too early come the time to hit that heavy set.

    Training is fairly simple, the only reason we have Jeff Nippard & similar "teaching" about RPE and other non-sense stuff is for us to believe that the reason why "we" are fat and weak is because of the training plan not because we are pussies in the gym (and in the kitchen) and we desperately need to buy their crappy gym programs (they are always publishing new ones with ultra super mega advance new techniques). 99.6% of people would benefit from Doc Greg videos with his simple message: train harder than last time, track your calories, use proper form. The other 0.4% that are at an intermediate/advance level may need to consider other approaches, but let's be serious, for the general population that does not train, train once per month (when they go to pay the gym subscription) or are at the gym just lifting RPE 0.5 would see significant improvements just by using proper form and train hard. Or does anyone believe that the fatso in your fym lifting 10kg in the bench press for 15 reps (with 40 left in the tank) needs to follow the hypertrophy & stregth program from jeff nippard with dropsets, supersets, rpe xpto, use one arm lat pulldowns to fully extend the lats...

    I think Greg just really tries to “dumb down” and make his info super approachable for the average and beginner person. He sounds sincere, because he speaks to you in an understanding way. Other youtubers sometimes try to sound too smart and use this great vocabulary and philosophy while in the end they basically say the same thing... We’re just going in circles here 😴

    I’ve tried Mikes program and by far was the worst training program I’ve waisted money on. So RPE In my opinion is garbage. Even being an advanced lifter RPE is a feel that can change from day to do. I prefer to do warm up sets a moderate working set and a set to failure depending on the exercise.

    Jeff nippard reminds me of those annoying all knowing nagging personal trainers in my local gym that think they know everything about bodybuilding yet haven't competed once, don't even follow the sport nor are they strong or look big but somehow their advice is still the best out there? If that is then how come you're not big nor strong? Their response usually is: "oow because I don't want to be to big" right... thing like: "if you eat this like 20 min before your workout you might increase potential anabolic stimulus by 3.32% if everything done correctly and that's why you're meal timing is worse than mine" that's the sort of stuff Jeff nippard does as well. Overcomplicating things that don't even serve a practical purpose.

    I wonder if Coach Greg has actually seen one of Jeff's full workout programs. I've run his Full Body High Frequency twice. I love it. I think the only time there was a prescribed RPE of 6 was maybe during the deload week. The rest of the time it seems as if Jeff tries to balance the intensity with the ability to recover....which seems important when running that type of program. Gotta admit tho....Jeff seems like he's being a little sensitive. lol

    I watched a lot of your videos and that doesn't even sound like the way you would word a video!! One reason I watch your videos is you're more professional than that and I have heard you say the way you explained it. because I remember it because I was shaking my head up and down saying yep that's for sure The studies don't always use trained athletes to say the least. I've never seen you do anything that needs recanting. problem is telling the truth hurts a lot of people's feelings nowadays. Now I will go out of my way and say are they are pussies!!! if you don't want people to find out the truth about what you're doing or lying about it's not wise to be on AMhistory. slander videos like you're having to deal with just make all these other idiots look like children. Honestly that's putting it very polite. you know what makes me feel dumb as I have the same critique of you that Kenny KO did. Lol. I shouldn't say that Kenny doesn't seem like a bad guy. I like your older training based videos and so did he. But you know what you're doing and I'm splitting hairs. But for the most part the newer videos are entertaining rather than educational. Somebody with your experience and wisdom on dietetics and bodybuilding shouldn't waste your time dealing with these trivial uneducated people. That's like somebody that should be a professor at Harvard going to work at Idaho community college. Yes I live in North Idaho It sucks. What you know and your experience I honestly consider priceless. If you would have been around when I started you would have saved me eight or nine years at least of spending my wheels.     Jeff is definitely knowledgeable and its clear he's dedicated to his craft, but as a person, he's soft when it comes to a little criticism.. The wave of PC/me too culture.. He probably was reinforced with only positivity his whole life. Work on training your mental because words are just words. ..     I'm a natural lifter that trains hard 7x a week. Completely agree with coach Greg, naturally I have a better physique then most of these AMhistoryrs. Greg's advice has fully helped me as an advanced lifter!

    I'm a beginner and I already know that if I was to use the RPE, it would end up in doing less work. Maybe not intentionally but with some exercises I think, I have 2 reps in the tank when I lift up the bar. And with some, it's the opposite. I can see the benefit for someone more advanced, but overall, I don't think it is for me.
