    Your knowledge with humor is amazing and addicting for the health and fitness world. You can help so many people fix their disordered eating habits and disordered view of exercise, health and fitness! It’s a lifestyle! It’s a journey! I totally agree- the binge is not worth it. It is not for me. I also 100% agree with not bulking, starving, etc. I do have your cookbook. I would have those binges... but after watching this video particularly, I realize how unhealthy and it is not worth it. Better to enjoy what I eat, use the ideas you share- and be balanced. It will neutralize my hormones and not make me a roller coaster with hunger. Thanks Greg!

    im trying to recover from anorexia, and when i eat, i feel my heart rate increase - i always attributed this to anxiety but is this just the result of the thermic affect of food, and my heartbeat increasing to digest food because i like never eat?

    Here I have to disagree: if you like the way you eat, then keep it. Well if you like McDonald's and you feel fine and eat only 1000 callories a day well it is still not healthy (it can be just sweets or veggetables or meat or coffee or whatever you like) you have to look inside your body for disease.

    Sorry coach Greg, but I think there is something you need to know. Japanese cell biologist Yoshinori Ohsumi won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2016 for his research on how cells recycle and renew their content, in a process called autophagy. It has been scientifically proven that fasting promotes autophagy. Scientists have found that fasting for 12+ to 24+ hours triggers autophagy and maximal benefits start to occur once the 48-72 hour mark has been reached, and that levels of autophagy are not reached by simply working out.

    I'm quite sure a big part of those calories wasn't even absorbed. I know human digestive system is very efficient, but there's only so much acid your stomach can produce, and amount of macronutrient your bowels can absorb.

    1:52 "His body was storing all that water weight as glycogen." I'll bet that this is misleading information for many viewers here. For the casual viewer, glycogen stores in liver and muscle are desirable, and the popular literature suggests 100g of glycogen storage in the liver and 400g in muscle tissues as the average human capacity. One's stores of liver and muscle glycogen never drop to zero as shown in the FASTER study, but for non-scientific conversations, it is common to just conclude that a "carb load" adds back in 500g of glucose, or 2,000 kcal. While your body will add more muscle glycogen than "normal" during these carb loading events (called "super-saturation") it REALLY just means that the maximum glycogen storage capacity of your liver and muscles are actually seldom achieved. It is like filling up your gas tank to the overflow level. As soon as you drive away from the pump, you are no longer at that maximum level. So, the big issue here is what happened to any additional sugar/glucose he ate that day over the amount needed to top off his muscle/liver glycogen stores. Some will be stored in kidneys, intestine, and other organs. This is somewhat benign in otherwise healthy adults. Some will simply remain in circulation and increase blood glucose levels and end up trapped in inter- and intra-cellular liquids. This is much less healthy. However, indeed much of the excess glucose will be "stuffed" into fat cells / adipose tissue, where it really does not belong. Fat cells are "designed" to expand and contract with changing levels of fat(oils) and water. Adding excess glucose/energy into adipose tissue is the primary problem with obesity related inflammation. When people begin a low carb / ketogenic diet, it is well known that they lose muscle/liver glycogen and its attached water. However, the glucose/glycogen/water/inflammation content of fat cells is seldom acknowledged by CICO proponents. This systemic inflammation (including edema) is perhaps the most unhealthy weight that is lost early on during a ketogenic diet. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2212877815001969

    9:45 im confused wouldn't the surplus actually be smaller than 7000 (like greg said) after his two days of fasting? because he didn't just burn 2000 calories each day, he likely burned more because he was active (i think his tdee is closer to 3000). so that would aid in reducing the net surplus
